Not all courses required for certification are yet available online.
Write Words: American Writing Services offers two advanced
certifications: the Business Writing Certificate and the Technical Writing Certificate. These
certifications involve extra writing projects in each course.
Because the exercises are slightly different, you must apply for certification when you register
for each required course.
An additional non-refundable administrative fee of
$15 per course is added to the cost of each online course offered
when applying for a certification track.
To receive a certificate in Business Writing, you must complete the following courses:
- Writing Skills: AP Format vs. The Gregg Reference Manual
- Editing and Proofreading Skills Review
- Punctuation Skills
- The Professional Approach to Electronic Messaging
- Writing Documents in Plain Talk
- or -
Business Writing in Plain Talk
To receive a certificate in Technical Writing, you must complete the following courses:
- The Anatomy of a Grant: Comprehensive Workshop
- Editing and Proofreading Techniques for Technical Writers
- Writing Documents in Plain Talk
- Writing Manuals
- Tricks of the Trade in Technical Writing
- or -
Writing Policies, Procedures and Tasks
If you completed these courses ONSITE after January 1, 2001, by an approved Write Words'
trainer, you may apply for certification for a fee. Contact
